Testimonials

Hendricks House is not just a place that’s teaching me how to stay clean, it’s teaching me how to live. With your help, we can help others break the chains of active addiction.

I was a client years ago at Hansen House in Egg Harbor. Great program. Helps you learn to live again.

The Hendricks House challenged me to become the man I’ve become today. If it was not them standing by me and helping me, I know I would never have made it. Their love for me allowed me to learn to love myself. I thought if I meant something to them, I had to be worth it. We have low self-esteem and they never allowed me to feel bad for myself; they showed me what I could be if I committed to recovery. Thank you, Hendricks House, for believing and seeing in me way before I seen anything in myself. There’s no better program in South Jersey who gives you a chance to change and become so much more. I give thanks to God through there morning reflections, asking me what I believed. I knew without God I could not have the confidence I have today. Going home for passes was nice but I also knew when I returned, I was coming back to my other family. There would not be Bill today without Hendricks House all those years ago.

Hi, my name is Katrina and I’m writing to say Hansen/Hendricks house helped me so much with achieving stable sobriety, even though I was on contract for like 3 months straight for my own behaviors (lol). It taught me how to keep my impulsivity in check and think before I react. I stayed for 7 months (3 of those I ASKED for an extension) I’m grateful for the kindness and hard love from my counselor, Ms. Deb and Ms. Latoya, Ms. Lonnie and most definitely Ms. Darlene (love you guys for giving me hard love) sometimes people see what you need when you don’t. Love this place and one day I’ll show my face. 😊

Hendricks House will always hold a special place in my heart. I was a client many years ago while on Drug Court Probation. This place instilled values in me. Ms. Melissa, Mike and a host of other great people showed me a better way of life. Today, I am a behavioral health specialist, celebrated six years of recovery on the 16th of April, and am a student at the Community College of Philadelphia. Thank God for Hendricks House ❤️🙏.

KENNETH F. DONDERO
2019 Distinguished Service Award Honoree
Ken was born and raised in Vineland and has spent the last 40 years of his life as part of
the ownership of Dondero’s Jewelry. After grammar school, Ken attended St.
Augustine Prep and then went on to St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia where he
earned a B.S. in Marketing/Management Science.
Ken has been married just shy of 38 years to Julie, his best friend and the one and only love of
his life. Filling out Ken’s family are two grown sons who make his family and life
complete. His oldest son, Jesse, lives in San Francisco and his youngest son, Brian,
lives in Millville. Between the two of them, they keep Ken feel-ing a lot younger than he looks.

Due to the incredible dedication of his partner Kevin, as well as the managers and
coworkers at Dondero’s, Ken has been afforded the opportunity to serve our community
in several areas. In past years, he has served as President and Board Member of
the St.Augustine Prep Alumni Association, President and Board Member of the
Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA. He is currently a Board member and past president of the
Vineland Rotary Club, and a board member of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of
Cumberland and Salem Counties. In 2017, Ken was selected as a Cumberland
County Hometown Hero. Ken is also proud to serve on the Board of Directors of Century Savings
Bank. Oh, and one more thing… he’s also counted amoung the group of crazies
that has produced the Voice of Vineland for the last four years.

It is with deep humility and profound gratitude that Ken accepts this recognition,
given to him by the Hendricks House and Board of Trustees. To be counted among the
many great, caring and dedicated peple who have received the Distinguished Service Award from
this incredible organization is a true honor that will be treasured forever.
