HENDRICKS HOUSE INC.,, was established in 1993 as the first halfway house in Southern New Jersey. The Hendricks House, located in Cumberland County, began by providing 16 male beds to individuals recovering from alcoholism. Since that time, Hendricks House, Inc. has grown to 74 male beds and 34 female beds in Cumberland and Atlantic Counties. Hendricks House, Inc. is licensed by the Department of Human Services and is contracted with the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services as a Fee For Service provider. We are also contracted with the eight southern New Jersey counties to provide substance use disorder treatment for their indigent residents in need, with Mutual Agreement Program, Drug Court, Work First, South Jersey Initiative, and DUII.
Since 1993, to meet the ever increasing need for Halfway House services in Southern New Jersey, REYNOLDS HOUSE, adjacent to Hendricks House, opened its doors over ten years ago as an expansion facility, bringing our Cumberland program to a total of 40 male beds. With our attention turning to the need in Atlantic County, we partnered with Jennifer Hansen, president of The Hansen Foundation, Inc., and the 34-bed HANSEN HOUSE for Men in Egg Harbor City, NJ opened its doors to clients in 2004 bringing our total male capacity up to 74 beds.
We then needed to turn our attention to females suffering from substance use disorders that equally needed halfway house services to attain drug-free recovery. This need was addressed by the opening of the 34-bed HANSEN HOUSE for Women(adjacent to Hansen House for Men) in 2005.
